I am a proud native of Hamlet, North Carolina, a small rural town with a big heart. Growing up in a close-knit community taught me the importance of service, perseverance, and believing in the potential of others. Those early lessons shaped who I am today and became the foundation of my leadership journey and the mission behind the I Can Scholarship Foundation Inc.
I am a graduate of Richmond Senior High School and went on to attend Shaw University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice and a minor in Social Work. During my time at Shaw, I was honored to serve as the 2017 Graduating Senior Class President. Standing before thousands of families, friends, faculty, and community members, I delivered my commencement address titled “The Seat You Are In.” That moment challenged me to fully step into my purpose and solidified my passion for leadership, courage, and empowering others to recognize the opportunities before them.Driven by a desire to grow as a servant leader, I continued my education and earned a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University, now known as National University. My academic journey strengthened my belief that strong leadership, community engagement, and intentional youth development are key to creating lasting and meaningful change.
In 2022, my heart for service led me to establish the I Can Scholarship Foundation Inc. What began as a personal vision and a one-man effort has grown into a thriving organization committed to uplifting students and families through education, mentorship, and opportunity. Through faith, determination, and community support, the Foundation has evolved into a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, now supported by a dedicated Board of Directors and leadership team.
Today, I remain deeply committed to investing in the next generation. My goals are rooted in expanding access to education, building confidence in young people, and creating pathways for success, especially for students from rural and underserved communities. Through the I Can Scholarship Foundation Inc., I strive to turn purpose into action and to show that with belief, leadership, and community support, anything is possible.
